Stade:
For more than 1,000 years, the brick-red old town and the historic Hanseatic harbour have been the centre of Stade. Many cosy cafés and restaurants with inviting summer terraces are lined up along the fish market and offer a great view of the old harbour. Right next door is the Schwedenspeicher Museum, which tells the story of the Hanseatic League in an interactive way. The pedestrian zone in Stade invites you to shop and is characterised by cobbled alleyways with picturesque half-timbered houses.
The baroque hall church of St Cosmae with its famous Arp Schnitger organ and the Gothic-style hall church of St Wilhadi complete the townscape of Stade.
Buxtehude:
Experience the fairytale charm of Buxtehude, a town on the edge of the ‘Altes Land’, the largest orchard in Europe. Stroll through the old town with its half-timbered houses and canals, learn more about the Hanseatic city and enjoy the view over Hamburg from the Köhlbrand Bridge.
